Adoration League
More Parishoners are needed to fill in the time slots of our daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Expostition is from 7 am to 11 pm daily. Please stop by and spend some time with the Lord. If you can commit to a time slot on a regular basis, please contact Laura Schreyer.

Altar Servers
Any child 4th grade and up with parental permission can become an Altar Server. They assist the Priest/Deacon at the Liturgy of the Church in a reverant and decorous manner. Older children are especially encouraged as leaders to our younger servers.

Arimatheans
The function of this ministry is to assist the Priest during a Mass of Christian Burial as Greeters, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Alter Severs, etc. This "team" of approximately 5 (five) parishioners per each service lend a helping hand to the family of the deceased, the Priest, and to the Church as a whole. Any special person with a flexible schedule, perhaps retired, who would like to assist in this gratifying ministry, is encouraged and welcomed.

Baby Sitting Ministry

Catholic Daughters

Catholic Daughters of America: At their monthly meeting, every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at ANS, donations of canned foods will be accepted to benefit NETS (Neighbors Eager to Serve). NETS provides donated foods to people who live in Western Charles County.

Children's Liturgy
To give the children of the Parish a greater understanding of their importance in the Mass, this ministry encourages children of all ages to attend and participate in a special Mass which occurs on the 2nd Sunday of the month at the 9AM Mass from October through June. Your child will better realize that the Mass is for everyone when they are a part of the Children's Liturgy.

Eucharistic Ministers (Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion)
Membership in this ministry is available for any Catholic in good standing with a deep devotion to the Eucharist and who can assist the Priest/Deacon in the distribution of the Holy Eucharist. We ask for those who feel called, to consider joining this ministry.

Gabriel Project
The Gabriel Project provides assistance to any mother in a crisis pregnancy. There is a current need for volunteer dentists and OB doctors, people to do car maintenance and volunteers to serve as "angels" who would maintain contact with mothers. Also donations of newborn diapers are needed.

The Knights of Columbus Archbishop Neale Council
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's fraternal organization to serve the Church and our communities. The Knights offer something for every man in the areas of Church, Youth, Family, Council and Community. Membership is open to all Catholic men in good standing. The Knights of St. John International
Incorporated in the state of New York in 1886 under the title of Roman Catholic Union of the Knights of St. John. Later shortened to Knights of St. John In 1992, became Knights of St. John International. Sacred Heart 309 was formed September 10, 1929 . and celebrated their 75 th anniversary this year. Charity works for church and community include Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul, Body of Christ Church, Father Pittman, food baskets at Thanksgiving, school supplies, scholarships to schools, etc. Fundraisers are crab feast, steak dinners, raffles, & dances. Meetings are 2nd Sunday of each month at St. Catherine-McConchie at 12:30p.m.

Knights of St. John, Ladies Sacred Heart Auxiliary

Lectors
The role of the Lector is to, in a clear, prayerful manner, welcome the attendants of the Mass, proclaim the Scripture readings, and in the absence of a deacon, the General Intercession. Please consider joining our worthy ministry.

Ministry to the Homebound, Sick, and Dying
There will be masses every other week at our two nursing homes. In addition there are communion services at Genesis every other Wednesday and at the Maples every Thursday. A rosary is said every week at CCNH. Currently in need of volunteers for this important work, please contact Sr. Marian to learn more.

Music Ministry
We welcome all to join our choirs - Contemporary Choir (9:00am Mass) rehearses on Thursday at 7:30pm, Gospel Choir and Junior Gospel choir (11:30am Mass - 1st and 4th Sundays) rehearses on Wednesday at 7:00pm, Children's Choir (2nd Sunday 9:00am Mass) rehearses on Wednesday at 5:30pm and Handbell Choir rehearses on Thursday at 6:30pm. All Rehearsals take place in the new Music Room located behind the Nursury in the Friendship Room. No Auditions necessary and all are welcome.

Religious Education - CCD

St. Vincent de Paul Society
Currently in need of canned goods and donations. Also, we are in need of freezer space to store frozen food. Please contact John Pugh if you can help.

Seder Supper
Each year during Holy Week, the parish celebrates a Seder Supper. The Seder is the ceremony celebrated by the Jews during Passover. The Seder is basis of the Last Supper celebrated by Jesus and His apostles on the night before he died.

Separated and Divorced Catholics
This group was formed to minister to the special needs of those who have been widowed, separated or divorced. Members support each other as well as plan activities and events. Although we have hosted meetings in the past, we are currently not holding meetings at this time. Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Sodality here at Sacred Heart started March 25, 1936 . They held their first meeting April 22, 1936 . Twenty-six members were present. They have been active ever since. Activities include monthly Mass & Rosary, sending cards (get well, sympathy, mass). When asked, Rosary at wake services, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Perpetual Adoration, Altar Guild, Choirs, CCD Teachers, helps coordinate receptions-refreshments, Parish Dinners, & Community Sunday. Yearly donations to Hospice, Gabriel Project, makes pillows for surgical ward at Civista Hospital- St. Vincent de Paul-Catholic Charities-T.V. Mass for shut-ins, Thanksgiving & Christmas-food baskets, new tables for the hall 2004. The Sodality joins together for Mass on the 1st Sunday of each month, starting with the rosary at 8:30am . Their monthly meeting is on the following Wednesday at 7:00pm in the Friendship Room.

Ushers
The ushers at Sacred Heart are a vital part of each Mass. The ushers greet the congregation as they arrive, help people find seats, take up the collection, pass out the weekly bulletins and are available for any special assistance needed during Mass.
